The company

CLAI boasts sixty years of participatory management, a unique example in the European agri-food sector, where cooperation is at the heart of success.

CLAI sca (Cooperativa Lavoratori Agricoli Imolesi) is an Italian cooperative founded in 1962 to provide an entrepreneurial response to the needs of breeders and farmers in the Imola area during the origins of the “Italian miracle”.

Strengthened by the intergenerational pact that has guided the Cooperative over time, three generations later, with passion and foresight, the CLAI women and men continue to fuel a 100% Italian meat supply chain and to constantly improve their methods, attentive to animal welfare and the environment, bringing the best of craftsmanship, quality and flavour to tables all over the world.

We cultivate values to produce goodness

CLAI has been operating since its inception in both the cured meats sector, with a particular focus on salami, and in fresh beef and pork. Over the years, CLAI has expanded its business to become a fully-fledged food company, thanks to the acquisition of the historic Zuarina prosciutto factory, renowned for the quality and sweetness of its Parma hams, and the incorporation in 2019 of the Faggiola Cooperative, a quintessential example of Tuscan-Romagna artisanal cheesemaking.

The company's products are present in
Italy in all sales channels and abroad in various global markets.

A strong sense of community

CLAI makes its close connection between people and the local area one of its most distinctive features, both by making its supply chain known to consumers through its "Macellerie del Contadino" (Farmer's Butchers), local outlets of excellence, and by actively supporting projects and initiatives that help communities and take shape in sporting, cultural, and solidarity-based activities, as well as those that promote people, the local area, and the environment.
