Our business
CLAI boasts sixty years of participatory management, a unique example in European agribusiness, where Cooperation is at the heart of success.
CLAI s.c.a. (Cooperativa Lavoratori Agricoli Imolesi) is an Italian cooperative founded in 1962 to give entrepreneurial response to the needs of breeders and farmers in the Imola area during the origin of the 'Italian miracle'.
On the strength of the intergenerational pact that drives the Cooperative over time, three generations later, with passion and foresight, CLAI women and men continue to nurture a 100% Italian meat supply chain and to constantly improve their methods, attentive to animal welfare and the environment, bringing the best of craftsmanship, quality and flavor to the table all over the world.
We cultivate values to produce goodness
CLAI has operated since its beginnings both in the cured meats sector, with a particular specialization in the salami segment, and in fresh beef and pork. Over the years, CLAI has implemented a path of expansion of its business, to present itself on the market as a fully-fledged food company, thanks to the acquisition of the historic Zuarina ham factory, renowned for the quality and sweetness of its Parma hams, and the 2019 incorporation of Cooperativa Faggiola, a typical expression of Tuscan-Romagna dairy craftsmanship.
Les produits de l'entreprise sont présents en Italie dans tous les canaux de vente et à l'étranger sur différents marchés mondiaux.
A strong sense of community
One of CLAI's most distinctive features is the very close bond between people and territory. CLAI makes its supply chain available to consumers through the 'Macellerie del Contadino' (Farmer's Butcher Shops), top-notch local sales outlets, and is actively involved in supporting projects and initiatives that help communities and that take concrete form in the areas of sports, culture, solidarity and the enhancement of people, territory and the environment.
